Tripa Update on World Orangutan Day 2014

Thanks to support from around the world the illegal burning of the Tripa Peat Swamp Forest by palm oil companies became an international issue. This orangutan capital of the world and the huge carbon-store of its deep peat soil is globally unique.

We have made this short video with an update from the field:

In a historic ruling, PT Kalista Alam has been ordered to pay close to USD 30 million in fines and reparations and its Director has been sentenced to 3 years in prison. Numerous legal cases are in progress against the companies responsible for the destruction in Tripa.

The fight to save Tripa is not over. Help us to bring all the criminals in Tripa to justice and restore the Leuser Ecosystem.

Support the fight to protect Sumatran orangutans and the Leuser Ecosystem!
