International Day of Action to Save the Leuser Ecosystem

HAkA Supports the International Day of Action to #SaveLeuserEcosystem on Monday, 22 September 2014.

End of the Icons have organised the day of action to urge President SB Yudhoyono to save the Leuser Ecosystem on the eve of the UN Climate Summit 2014 in New York. World leaders will gather on Tuesday to agree to bold new actions to tackle climate change.

The last thing the global community wants to hear is that Indonesia is approving a plan that allows logging, mining and palm oil plantations into one of its most pristine remaining forest ecosystems.

However, the Leuser Ecosystem is facing that threat at this moment. The last place on earth where orangutans, rhinos, elephants and tigers still co-exist must be protected for the sake of these species, the ecosystem services it provides to local communities and the carbon storage and climate regulation it provides to the global community.

What can you do?

TAKE ACTION here to support the International Day of Action to Save the Leuser Ecosystem. It’s easy – take a photo to take action!

The deadline for sending your photos for inclusion in the International Day of Action is at 9am Monday 22nd September Jakarta (+7GMT) time.
